Substitute Teachers play a vital role in the educational program at New Prague Area Schools. We are looking for positive, flexible people with good communication skills who enjoy working with our students to fill these roles.
Pay
Assignments greater than 4 hours - $170 / $190 on hard-to-fill days
Assignments 4 hours or less - $85 / $95 on hard-to-fill days
Substitute Bonus - $155 paid for every 20 days subbed
Substitute Bonus for working in 1 classroom for 5 consecutive full days - $130
The following is required to become a Substitute Teacher:
- A Valid MN Teaching License - A valid teaching license or short-call substitute teaching license is required. A short-call substitute license permits individuals to substitute in grades K-12. To obtain a teaching license you will need to vist the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) website - https://mn.gov/pelsb/aspiring-educators/apply/ - click on the "Online Licensing System" link under Substitute and Administrator License Applications. PELSB does require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, a background check and fee to be submitted with your application.

- Pre-Employment Background Check - All prospective employees must pass a background check (this is different than the background check required when applying for your teaching license). Applicants must pay for their background check.
New Prague Area Schools is a consistently growing district of more than 4,000 students, Pre K through 12. The district is located about 45 miles southwest of the Twin Cities. The district serves the students and community members of the New Prague, New Market Elko, northern Lonsdale areas, as well as several other communities. The district offers a small-town quality of life with easy access to the conveniences of a major metropolitan area.
We have three elementary schools (K-5), one middle school (6-8), one high school (9-12), and an alternative learning center (9-12).
Our Early Childhood Services provides learning opportunities for children (age 0-5) and families. We have a comprehensive preschool program (age 3-5) and school-age care program (grade 3-5). Our Community Education department provides programs and services for learners of all ages.
